TSC Says Only Secondary School Teachers to Administer KCSE Examination.

The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has issued a directive mandating that the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination be exclusively supervised and administered by secondary school teachers.

The directive, according to TSC chief Nancy Macharia, is in accordance with the policies established by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).

She declared that 101,376 secondary school educators have been hired to supervise the examination at examination centres across the nation.

A total of 900,000 Form Four students are registered to take the KCSE examination this year.

“The teachers assigned to administer the examinations have undergone a thorough vetting process conducted by TSC,” Macharia commented.

She stated that the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations from last week were the responsibility of the primary school teachers.

“Only secondary school teachers are eligible to serve as invigilators, supervisors, and centre managers for KCSE. This is in line with the KNEC regulations.”

Macharia was delivering a speech in Mombasa subsequent to overseeing the distribution of KCSE examination papers.

She stated that examinations began without incident in all six counties along the coast, notwithstanding the intense rainfall that has been all over the past week.

With assurance in the arrangements and preparations that had been undertaken to guarantee the examinations’ triumphant distribution on a national scale, she conveyed.

She stated that a nationwide multi-agency collaborative team is working assiduously to ensure a smooth examination period, even in regions where logistical obstacles may arise.

Macharia stated, “The government maintains helicopters on standby to airlift examinations to remote areas when access is difficult.”

She stated that no challenges have been reported thus far.
