TSC Promotion Interview in 3 Phases

The Teacher’s Service Commission (TSC) is gearing up to hold promotion interviews to fill 36,053 vacancies initially advertised in August this year. These interviews will occur in three separate stages, starting on December 4, 2023, following the conclusion of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

On October 30, 2023, TSC sent out invitations for these promotions. All interview candidates are required to provide valid Chapter 6 documents as a condition for consideration.

TSC Promotion Interview Phases

Here’s an outline of the three interview phases:

1. *Phase I* (December 4 to 15, 2023): This phase, held at the sub-county level, is intended for primary school teachers seeking promotions from Grades C1 to C5.

Promotions encompass Headteacher roles in regular primary schools and Special Needs Primary Schools at T-Scale 1, Deputy Headteacher II in regular primary schools at T-Scale 9, Senior Teacher I in regular primary schools and SNE primary schools at T-Scale 8, and Senior Teacher II in regular and SNE primary schools at T-Scale 7.

2. *Phase II* (January 4 to 16, 2024): Taking place at the county level, Phase II targets post-primary teachers aiming for promotions in grades C3 to D1. Promotion positions include Deputy Principal III in regular secondary schools at T-Scale 11, Senior Master III in regular secondary schools, Senior Lecturer IV in Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) at T-Scale 9, and Senior Master IV in regular secondary schools at T-Scale 9, among others.

3. *Phase III* (February 4 to 16, 2024): These promotions will be conducted at regional levels and involve post-primary administrators seeking promotions in grades D2 to D5 levels. Promotion positions include Chief Principal in regular secondary schools at T-Scale 15, Senior Principal at T-Scale 14, Principal at T-Scale 13, Deputy Principal II at T-Scale 12, and Senior Lecturer I at T-Scale 12.

TSC has allocated a budget of Ksh2.2 billion for end-of-year teacher promotions.
