It is in the public glare that the only CBA that awarded the Kenyan Teachers any monetary gain was the 2017-2021 CBA that was arrived at after the much talked about Evaluation of the Teacher’s work! READ: JOB GROUPS ELIGIBLE FOR SALARY INCREMENTS JULY 2022

Ridiculously after this implementation, TSC and the Teacher Unions (KUPPET and KNUT) signed a nonmonetary CBA much to the chagrin of the Kenyan teacher! This ‘zero’ CBA has come to be taunted as the ‘MATERNITY CBA’ because apparently, the only benefit the members got was extended maternity leave for newly nursing teachers! The CBA has been ridiculed as null and void because with the ever-increasing cost of living, most teachers are likely to plan their families in preference of leaner families, making the CBA ( 2021-2025) quite irrelevant!

Anyway, what follows is a list of all teachers’ pay scales as they are currently:

The Chief Principals ( T-Scale 15)

These are teacher Heads of National andExtraa County Schools. Most of these schools have at least more than 1,000 students. They will get a salary increment of up to Sh9,496 as the lowest earner in this group will walk home with a salary of Sh131,380 while the highest earner will earn Sh157,656 per month. These are teachers in job groups Q and R; D5 Job Grade. This is as tabulated below:

All primary schools in the republic with a student population below 1000 are managed by head teachers with Grade C5 (T-Scale 10). Deputy Head Teachers 1 are at Grade C5 (T-Scale10). Grade C2 is an entry grade for secondary school teachers who are holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or its equivalent. It is also a promotional grade for holders of a Diploma in Education.
