The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has released a list of successful applicants who have bagged promotions for various positions in the year 2023.  This comes after an advertisement that was published early this year that invited applications for promotions across various leadership vacancies in primary and secondary schools.

Over 3,000 TSC teachers have been promoted to the positions of Principal, Deputy Principal, and Deputy Head Teacher. The Deputy Head Teacher (II) position had the highest percentage of promotions (with over 2500 promotions).

How to download the TSC successful applicants list

To download the list of successful applicants, follow the procedure below;

  • Visit the TSC Adverts website
  • Click the download button on Successful Applicants advert 1(1-30) and 2 (31 – 40).
  • PDF will be downloaded with a list of successful applicants
  • Download both advert 1 and 2 to check whether your name is in either of the adverts.

The pdf only contains the TSC number. Therefore, search for your promotion using your TSC number.

Teachers who have been promoted will receive a communication from TSC on how to get their promotion letters and details.

According to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Kenya, over 16,000 teachers have so far received TSC promotions list this year based on career progression guidelines and other criteria such as regional balance, gender equity, and affirmative action for Arid and Semi-Arid Lands counties

The promoted teachers will fill vacancies for Deputy Principals I and II, Senior Master IV in secondary schools, and Head Teachers and Deputy Head Teachers II in primary schools.

The promotions were equitably distributed across the regions, with Kiambu County having the highest number of promoted teachers, followed by Kisii and Kakamega.

Unfortunately, some acting teachers who were hoping to be confirmed lost out.

When a promotion advertisement is published, TSC has instructed the teachers to reapply for the vacancies.

After the education task force recommended that the Ministry of Education handle the teacher promotion task

It is unclear if TSC will take on the next teacher promotion issue.

3,359 public schools, according to TSC data, do not have head teachers.

There are 1,918 public elementary schools with no principals and 1,441 senior schools with no principals.

A total of 3359 schools countrywide do not have enough school heads.

APPOINTMENT AS SENIOR MASTER IV (C4/T-SCALE 9)
Further to your application for appointment to the grade of Senior Master IV (CA/T- Scale 9), and subsequent interview, I am pleased to inform you that you were successful.

The salary attached to this grade is Ksh.627,696- Ksh.667248 per annum.

Your performance will be evaluated based on the annual performance targets in the performance contracting and/or appraisal instruments. Accordingly, your attention is drawn to the provisions of Regulation 54 of the Code of Regulations for Teachers (2015)

Your duties and responsibilities at this level shall be guided by the provisions of the Teachers Service Commission Act (2012), Code of Regulations for Teachers (2015), Code of Conduct and Ethics for Teachers (2015), Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers (2018) and any other Legislative instruments, Policies and Administrative Circulars issued by the Commission from time to time.
