When choosing a course for their final leg of education, the cost of university education is a crucial factor for individuals in Kenya to consider.

We have conducted a comprehensive analysis of fees for courses offered in top universities in Kenya, as provided by The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

This article presents a list of affordable university courses that can help candidates make more informed decisions.

University of Nairobi:

Known as one of the best universities in Kenya, the University of Nairobi offers courses at reasonable prices.

For instance, the annual fee for a Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology) is Ksh189,550, while the Bachelor of Arts in International Studies carries the same cost.

In 2023, the University of Nairobi charged Ksh160,653 for a Bachelor of Arts degree and Ksh175,950 for a Bachelor of Arts (Gender and Development Studies).

University of Eldoret:

The University of Eldoret offers some of the cheapest courses, with an annual fee of Ksh183,600.

These courses include Bachelor of Education (Arts), Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science (Entrepreneurship), Bachelor of Science (Project Planning Management), and Bachelor of Arts (Economics).

Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT):

JKUAT provides affordable courses such as Bachelor of Economics, which costs Ksh183,600 for an academic year.

The fees for a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Leadership, Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, and Bachelor of Science in Business Innovation and Technology Management are Ksh175,950 per year.

Similarly, a Bachelor of Science in Community Development and Environment, Bachelor of Science in Strategic Management, and Bachelor of Project Management also have an annual fee of Ksh175,950.

Kenyatta University:

At Kenyatta University, the cost of courses ranges from Ksh153,000 to Ksh183,600 per year.

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Education (Library Science), Bachelor of Education (Arts) Fine, Bachelor of Economics and Finance, Bachelor of Education (Physical Education), and Bachelor of Education Arts (Home Economics) pay Ksh183,600 annually.

The university also offers affordable courses such as Bachelor of Arts (Gender and Development Studies), Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Administration, all priced at Ksh153,000 for an academic year.

Technical University of Kenya:

The Technical University of Kenya provides cost-effective options, with fees of Ksh135,000 for a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy, and Ksh162,000 for a Bachelor of Science in Counseling Psychology.

Moreover, students pursuing a Bachelor of Technology in Business Information Technology and a Bachelor of Technology in Office Administration and Technology pay Ksh150,000 per year.
