MoE Reveals Official Dates for Mid-Term Break For Term One 2022

KCSE 2020-2021 top 100 candidates nationally

Official term dates from the ministry of education show that primary and secondary school learners will break for a midterm break on Thursday, May 26.

The half-term break comes exactly six weeks after the learners opened on the 25th day of the month of April for the first term of the year 2022. The three-day break between 26th May and 29th May 2022.

This, therefore, means parents who have learners in primary and secondary schools should expect to receive their children at home next week.

According to the Ministry of Education 2022 academic year calendar, Term one will end on 2nd July 2022 when learners across the country will begin their holidays which will last till 10th July 2022.

Term two of the 2022 academic year will begin on 11th July 2022, learners will break for the mid-term break on August 11th until 14th August. The second term will end on 17th September 2022 paving the way for a Holiday that will last till 25th September.

The last term of this academic year will last for 7 weeks.it will begin on 26th September and end on November 25th, learners will not have a half term break this time.

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) will kick off on 28th November 2022 and end on 1st December 2022.

Candidates taking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will commence their sitting papers on 2nd January 2023, they will sit for the last paper on 23rd December 2022.

On the other hand, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will administer the first CBC examination to grade 6 learners. The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will be written between 28th November and 30th November 2022.

The first term of 2022 commenced on the 25th day of the month of April. The ten-week-long term will have a three-day-break between 26th May and 29th May 2022.

This is the second and the last time school academic year is starting almost mid of the year since the Corona Virus Pandemic grounded school activities across the country.

Second term will start on 11th June 2022. The 10-week-term will have a 3-day-break between 11th August and 14th August 2022. Schools will then break for a one week long holiday on 17th September, 2022.

Term three which is shorter by a week comparing it with the first two terms, will kick off on 26th September, 2022. There will be no half term break for this term.

National examinations for class eight candidates(KCPE), form four students(KCSE) and Class six pupils (KPSEA) will be conducted during this term.

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations will be conducted between 28th November and 1st December, 2022.

On the other hand the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will take place between 1st December and 23rd December, 2022. Marking exercise will take place between 2nd January 2023 and 20th January 2023.

Examination body(KNEC), is yet to set dates in which Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will take place.

The KPSEA assessments are poised to replace the KCPE under the new competence based curriculum. These assessments will be used to see smooth transition from primary school to Junior Secondary school.

2022 TERM DATES FOR ALL LEARNERS

Term one will end on the 2nd day of June to pave way for short holiday be concluded on 10th June 2022.

Second term of the year 2022 will start on 11th June and end on 16th of September 2022. The term will also have 10 weeks and a three-day mid term break that will be between 11th August and 14th August 2022.

The last term of 2022 will kick off on 26th September and end on 25th November 2022 to pave way for National examination both KCPE and KCSE. KCPE 2022 will start on 28th November and end on 1st December 2022.
