TSC Promotions 2022-2023; The Teachers Service Commission has been on the spot for allegedly failing to disclose the full details pertaining to the selection criteria it uses to appoint teachers who apply for promotions to higher grades.

During the recently concluded TSC promotions last year, there were speculations that the Commission may have ignored all the other factors and promoted teachers who applied for senior master and senior teacher positions based on the length of service.

KUPPET has been forging for the Commission to declare the promotion of teachers to C4 in secondary schools- senior master positions automatic so that it can be categorized as a common cadre grade. The Teachers Service Commission has however stood its ground. The only hope in the offing is the expansion of TSC promotion grades for senior teachers and senior masters that is likely to be effected this year after TSC received the 2022-2023 budgetary allocation.

TSC Releases Details of Newly Appointed Teachers per county between 2019-2022

Owing to the allegations leveled against the Teachers Service Commission, TSC has released complete details on all teachers it has promoted for the last three years.

This TSC Promotion list comprises the name of the county and region, the number of promoted and newly appointed teachers every year since the 2018/2019 fiscal cycle.

A total of 18,585 secondary school teachers have been appointed by the  Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in the last three years with Kakamega County taking the largest share of 711 teachers appointed in the successive years followed by Bungoma and Kitui with 597 and 584 respectively.

Counties that took the least shares of appointments among the 18,585 teachers were Isiolo, Lamu, and Tana River Counties with 32, 61 and76 teachers respectively.

The 18,585 TSC appointments can be broken down into 7,888 teachers in the 2018/2019 period, 5,166 in 2019/2020, and 5,531 teachers in the 2020-2021 financial year.
