The following is the summary of the top candidates in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education KCPE Results.
The top Candidate in the 2022 KCPE examination scored 431 marks out of 500. This is an increase of 3 marks from the top 2021 KCPE Candidate’s score.
- 9,443 candidates scored between 400 to 500 marks
- 307,756 candidates scored 300 to 399 marks
- 619,593 Candidates scored between 200 to 299 marks
- 296,336 candidates scored between 100 to 199 marks
- 724 candidates scored between 1 and 99 marks
The results were released by the Cabinet Secretary of Education Ezekiel Machogu, on Wednesday 21 December, and the Kenya National Examinations Council Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

252 Candidates Cheated in 2022 KCPE Examinations
According to Mr. Machogu, a total of 252 candidates were involved in examination malpractice.
The CS added that the students were given a score of 0 on the papers where cheating was detected.

“Female candidates performed better than their male counterparts in English, Kiswahili, and Kenya sign language, while male candidates performed better in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Religious Education,” Education CS Ezekiel Machogu said.
7 Candidates top 2022 KCPE in Special Needs Category
The Education CS also pointed out that a total of 7 candidates scored above 400 marks in the 2022 KCPE examinations results under the Special Needs Schools.
“296 candidates scored between 300 to 399 marks” added Mr. Machogu.
In addition, 838 candidates scored between 200 to 299 marks, as 1,298 garnered between 100 and 199 marks. Only 6 Special needs candidates scored less than 99 marks.
How to Check 2022 KCPE Results via SMS
To check the results via SMS, students and their parents are asked to send the candidate’s index number followed by the initials KCPE (in capital letters) to 20076. Ensure there are no spaces between the index number and the initials KCPE.
2023 Form 1 Selection to Conclude on 16 January
While releasing the 2022 KCPE exam results, CS Machogu informed all the 1,233,852 candidates that they will be admitted in Form one.
The CS noted that the Form one Selection exercise will be concluded on the 16th of January 2023.
