This is a girls only top national public boarding secondary school located in Eldoret, Kenya. The school was established in 1928 as a European Primary school to cater for the children of the white settlers who had occupied the then white Highlands.
The primary school later on had its name changed to Highlands Primary school. In 1930, the school was moved across the Sosiani river to to what is now Hill school. There rose a need for a girls high school for the white settlers led to the current school’s existence from 1954. After independence, the population of the students declined since the whites started relocating. At this point, African girls started being admitted to the school.
It was named New Girls then to The Highlands school and in 1978, its name was changed to Moi Girls High School- Eldoret, in honour of the longest serving board chairman who had then risen to become the 2nd president of the republic of Kenya in the same year. The school is currently managed by the school’s board of management appointed by the ministry of education of the republic of Kenya. School vision; To be the premier national school for girls.

In the year 2019, the school posted an impressive mean score of 9.65. The school was ranked position 12 nationally.
In 2017’s KCSE, the school was able to emerge position 7 nationally with a mean score of 67.53. In the same year, it produced 4 students in the top 100 candidates nationally, having 14 plain As and 67 A-s.
