KUCCPS Teacher Training Colleges, TTC Applications

By | July 16, 2023

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened its online application portal for placement to diploma teacher training courses.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu addressed students at Kangaru School in Embu, where he presided over an education and career guidance day, and announced that applicants will be seeking to fill 13,439 positions in the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) programs.

The minimum qualification requirement is an average grade of C (plain) on the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam.
According to the Education CS, no additional subject requirements will be implemented.

“For the second year, the placement of trainees into the 32 public teacher training colleges will be handled by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), which has opened its online portal for the application,” he explained.

KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Mercy Wahome stated in her address at the same forum that the portal would remain accessible until July 28, 2023.

“This opportunity is available to qualified KCSE certificate holders, including non-Kenyan citizens who took the exam between 2022 and 2000,” Wahome explained.

There are 11,358 available positions in the DPTE program, while 2,081 are available in the DECTE course.

While addressing the students at Kangaru School, the CEO of KUCCPS advised students to align their subject choices in Forms One and Two with prospective career goals.

This is good news for thousands of students seeking to train as teachers. The earlier tough application requirements had locked out many applicants.
