The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service(KUCCPS) has given an explanation of the official course’s cut-off points and how these points influence the selection of students to higher institutions of learning (Universities, Colleges, and Tvets).

Cut-off points are reviewed on a yearly basis and they heavily rely on candidates’ performance at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations in that particular year.

As of now, the candidates with a grade of C+ or higher in the KCSE can apply for government-sponsored degree programs, formerly known as JAB.
Equally the students who managed a C or C- on their final exam can apply for Diploma courses, while those who received a D can apply for TVET courses.
