KNEC Issues Strict KCSE Rules to Invigilators With Up to Ksh500,000 Fine.

The Kenya National Examinations Council has warned centre managers against releasing KCSE practical exam papers.

In a notice issued on Monday, the council instructed all exam administrators not to share confidential instructions in advance with unauthorized individuals, including candidates, until exam time.

The notice strongly cautioned all KCSE Center Managers against sharing advanced confidential instructions for the preparation of science practical examination papers with unauthorized persons.

The notice urged them to adhere strictly to the KNEC rules and regulations, with a warning that any non-compliance would attract the sanctions outlined in the KNEC Act.

According to the Act, centre administrators found guilty face a maximum of twelve months in prison, a maximum fine of Ksh500,000, or both.

Individuals who gain access to exam materials and knowingly discuss or write about their contents with someone not authorized to receive such information, regardless of whether that person is a candidate or not, will face punitive measures.

The same consequences apply to individuals who intentionally vandalize exam materials.

Individuals who are not officially registered for a specific council exam but attempt to present themselves as enrolled candidates or possess and display fraudulent certificates or diplomas can also be subject to imprisonment.

Today, candidates across the nation began their national examinations with physics practicals. 903,260 candidates will sit for the exam.

The science practical examinations will likely continue until Friday.

According to data from the Ministry of Education, just under a million students will take the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), while 1,4 million will take the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

In addition to introducing the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), the authorities anticipate that a total of 3.5 million students will sit for the two exams.

KCSE will continue through November 24.
