Kenya’s major examinng body,Kenya National Examination Council has released a statement following requests on the postponement of national examinations that was made by schools heads and parents .
In a press release by the council on 8th November, 2021 KNEC declared that both the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (KCSE) would go on as it was earlier planned.
KNEC officials ware responding to reports on social platforms indicating that the dates of the national examinations scheduled for March 2022 had been pushed to a later period.
The attention of the Kenya National Examination Counci was drawn by the information circulating in the social media on the postponement of the KCPE and KCSE national examinations scheduled in March 2022.
Part of the knec statement read,“It is in this regard that we wish to inform all relevant stakeholders that there are no changes to the KCPE and KCSE national examination dates.”
With regard to the above statement by the Council, the learners and teachers in secondary schools will continue to prepare for the KCSE exams which will officially start on February 28, 2022 just like it had been early scheduled.
KNEC arrived at this decision of not adhering to the calls to postpone the national examination since it remained unclear on what would have happened to some students who already began their practical examinations in July and are expected to finalize their projects in January 2022 among other logistics.
On the other hand, KNEC has maintained that all candidates in primary school are expected to officially start their examination with the Mathematics exam scheduled for March 7, 2022.
