Knec: Doom And Gloom For Deputy Principals As They Are Locked Out Of KNEC’S Pay 2022 Bonanza

The 2022 Kenya certificate of secondary education, KCSE exams have entered day two in various secondary schools and examination centres Countrywide.

Yesterday, a few cases of exam mulpractices were reported and action was taken immediately by the security officers. A few phones have been confiscated.

The exams are currently being managed by center managers who are principals, supervisors, invigilators, drivers and security officers.

The center managers are normally assisted by Deputy center managers who are the deputy principals.

All the above Officers are entitled to earnings which are paid based on the number of days worked save for Deputy center managers-deputy principals who go home empty handed despite ensuring that discipline is maintained throughout the exam period.

With the Education ministry having ordered all teachers to stay away from schools, the deputy principals are left with the greatest responsibility of ensuring that students remain disciplined throughout the exercise and they help trace the learners in case they fail to turn up for the examinations. In short, they help in management of the school.

Whereas the supervisors and center managers are going to earn between Ksh 10000 to Ksh 12000 for the entire period, it will be doom and gloom for Deputy centre Managers who will go home Empty handed.

The Issue came up for discussion on Tuesday morning during a talk show held at KTN news with education expert Tomkins Baraza faulting the KNEC for not remunerating Teachers well.

According to him, the deputy center managers equally offer Services at a time when all teachers are supposed to be at home.

“They prepare candidates by ensuring that they eat in time and be available for exams as the center manager goes to pick exams”. He said while vouching for their remuneration.
