KCSE Rehearsals Begin on Thursday: Dates for KCPE and KPSEA.

The Kenya National Examinations Council has announced that examination rehearsals for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education 2023 will begin on Thursday, October 19.

This comes as preparations continue for Form 4 candidates taking national exams from October 23 to November 24.

On Wednesday, Knec announced that the rehearsal date for KCPE and KPSEA is Friday, October 27.

The KCPE and KPSEA examinations will commence on Monday, October 30, and conclude on Wednesday, November 1.

Knec is anticipated to employ 1,700 officers to oversee the exam administration.

The council stated that the officers are not only from Knec but also from other educational institutions.

In primary schools, the 8-4-4 system will cease with the 2023 KCPE examinations.

Over three and a half million candidates will take national examinations, with the number of KCPE candidates representing the highest increase ever recorded in the country.

This year, just under one million students will take KCSE examinations, while 1,4 million will take KCPE exams. The number of individuals enrolled to take the inaugural KPSEA is 1,200,000.

During a briefing for the monitoring officers held at the Knec headquarters in New Mitihani House on Monday and Tuesday, the Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Belio Kipsang, urged the officers to be committed to ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the assessments and examinations.

Kipsang stated that they play a more significant role than just delivering the examinations. He emphasized the need to motivate the candidates by assuring them that it’s a process everyone goes through and that they can also successfully complete it.

The PS also commended KNEC for its admirable work, particularly over the past year when the Council switched from conducting the customary two exams to an unprecedented five exams as the nation worked to restore order to the academic calendar following the COVID-19 pandemic’s disruption.

Principal Secretaries from the Ministry of Education were present, along with the Council and Executive Management of Knec.
