 The school offers both the new Competence Based Curriculum, CBC, and the nearly phased out 8-4-4 education system to the students under the Kenyan curriculum. It has got approximately 500 students and a total of 50 teaching staff.

The school was established in the year 1925 as the Government African School [GAS], being one of the oldest high schools in Kenya. At that time, the main aim of the school was to cater to the African students at a time when schools were segregated by the British colonialists
