The position is assigned in the Knowledge Support Division (DCKD) within the Department of Communications (DOC). DOC supports ADB Management’s public communications and outreach strategies to raise the Bank’s profile and position ADB as a knowledge bank. It works to communicate ADB’s policies and information on ADB operations and their impact on developing member countries to internal and external audiences. It supports operational, knowledge and other operational support departments, and sector and thematic groups in assembling and presenting knowledge from their respective activities. It is also the focal point for all public information activities including building relations with media and managing the Bank’s external website and publishing program.
DCKD is responsible for harnessing knowledge content embedded in ADB’s programs/ projects/ practices and various initiatives, and disseminating knowledge using different platforms and marketing tools.
Job Purpose
The Associate Communications Officer will support the division on knowledge content generation, knowledge management research and development, monitoring and coordination and in operational coordination. The incumbent will also support the work units in the implementation and administration of TA projects under DCKD’s responsibility.
The incumbent will report to Director, DCKD and/or the designated International Staff.
Responsibilities
- Assists in seeking, identifying, creating, storing, sharing and using knowledge content, products and services
- Conducts research and collects relevant and useful information as inputs for content development and dissemination of knowledge products
Innovates the development of content and new knowledge products and services and contributes in introducing creative ways to maximize their usability and usefulness to a variety of user groups
Contributes in the development and maintenance of knowledge database, knowledge partners’ roster, websites and other resources on relevant information and support services
Develops and generates relevant monitoring reports and contributes in developing metrics for measuring performance and usage of content, knowledge products and services
Contributes in the development and implementation of new initiatives in DCKD, as needed
Undertakes follow up and coordination activities across the division to ensure completion and submission of various operational requirements in a timely manner.
Supports project lead in the implementation and administration of assigned TA projects under DCKD responsibility, including on consultant recruitment and selection, processing of payment claims and monitoring delivery of outputs and outcomes
Qualifications
Relevant Experience & Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in Communication, Business Management, or other related field;
At least 6 years relevant experience in research-related work, project administration, and front office work coordination.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and good interpersonal skills
Good knowledge ADB’s operational processes and administration guidelines
Reasonable understanding of knowledge content, products and services
Strong planning and organizing skills to handle many tasks with deadlines.
Proficiency in the use of standard office software programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,
Working knowledge of ADB’s computer applications and database systems
Ability to work closely with multi-disciplinary team and promote team work

The selected candidate is appointed for an initial term of 3 years.
