University of Nairobi Admission Requirements

University of Nairobi strives to admit those applicants who are best prepared to benefit from and contribute to UoN academic community. Admission specialists will review your application and supporting documentation carefully to assess your overall academic preparation. In evaluating your application, the University will consider the following factors:

Faculty of Agriculture

Courses Offered

B.Sc. Agriculture – A22, B.Sc. Management of Agroecosystems and Environment – A26 , B.Sc. Food Science and Technology – A24, B.Sc. Food, Nutrition and Dietetics – A90, Bsc. Range Management – A25, B.Sc. Agribusiness Management – A87, Bachelor of Agricultural Education and Extension – A83, Dip. Crop Protection – A138

Minimum Admission Requirements for degree programmes:

KCSE (Mean grade C+) with grade C in Biology or Biological Sciences; Physics and Chemistry or Physical Sciences; and Mathematics; or

Advanced Level Certificate: Two principal passes in Biology and Chemistry; and at least a subsidiary pass in Maths or a credit pass in Maths or Physics at ‘O’ level; or

Relevant Ordinary Diploma from a recognized Agricultural or Veterinary college with a credit pass; or

A Relevant Higher National Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution; or

A relevant degree in Biology or related sciences.

Minimum Admission Requirements for Dip. Crop Protection:

KCSE (Mean C) with passes at C- or above in Biology or Chemistry; or c. B.A. Quantity Surveying/ B. Construction Management: Physics or Physical Sciences; and Geography or Accounts or Commerce or Economics or Building Construction or Drawing and Design.

Advanced Level Certificate (EAACE or KACE) with two Principal passes; or

Higher National Diploma in Science courses, Education (Science), Computer Studies, Statistics or Applied Sciences; or

A Degree from a recognized university.

And any other relevant criteria listed in the General Admissions Criteria.

Minimum Admission Requirements for Dip. in Estate Agency and Property Management:

KCSE (Mean Grade C) or equivalent with minimum C in Mathematics and English; or

KCE (Div. II) with credits in Mathematics and English or Div. III plus a certificate in an equivalent professional training course.

KACE with at least one principal pass or equivalent qualification

Degree and Diploma holders in respective areas of study.

Higher National Diploma or equivalent qualifications in Science with a credit passes; or

Science/Technology Diploma from Teachers Training Colleges or equivalent qualifications, in sciences with a credit pass

Minimum Admission Requirements for degree programmes:

KCSE (Mean C+) or equivalent; or

KACE (2 principal passes), or equivalent; or Professional qualifications such as Dip. Education, Dip. Early Childhood, Teachers Certificate (SI) from recognized institutions or their equivalents; or

A trained primary school teacher of PI grade and three years minimum teaching experience and minimum KSCE (Mean C)

Other degrees from a recognized university.

And any other relevant criteria listed in the General Admissions Criteria.B.Ed Science and B.Ed ICT should in addition to the Minimum admin. Criteria have C+ in at least 2 science subjectsDip. In ECE with P1 certificate should have attained a minimum of C- (Minus) or equivalent qualification at KCSE level

Minimum Admission Requirements for Dip. in Early Childhood Education

A holder of KCSE with a minimum of grade C or its approved equivalent

Kenya Certificate of Education with minimum of Division three

A P1 teacher Certificate

School of Dental Sciences

Courses Offered

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) – V28

Minimum Admission Requirements:

In addition to good passes in the following cluster subjects:

KCSE (Mean C+) in eight (8) subjects taken at the same sitting with good passes in Option A (Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Mathematics, English/Kiswahili) or Option B (Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, English/Kiswahili); or

Advanced Level Certificate: Two principal passes in Biology and Chemistry; and at least a subsidiary pass in Maths or Physics; or

Diploma Holders in Medical Sciences: A minimum KCE Division II or C+ in KCSE in addition to a Credit pass in professional qualifications from a recognized Medical Training Institution; or

Any Degree in Biological Sciences from a recognized university.

And any other relevant criteria listed in the General Admissions Criteria.

Minimum Admission Requirements:

In addition to the common regulations for the Bachelor Degree for the University of Nairobi, eligible candidates must have at least a B (Plain) in English. Categories of persons to whom admission is open include:

Holder of KCSE certificate with minimum university entry points of at least C+; or

Holder of Advanced Level Certificate with at least three principal passes or equivalent; or

Holder of degree(s) from a recognized university

Holder of at least a credit pass in a Diploma from a recognized institution
