Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre (MTCC-Africa) is a project focusing on capacity building for climate mitigation in the maritime shipping industry in Africa. The Centre is based at JKUAT Mombasa Campus and is part of the Global MTCCs Network (GMN) project funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Applications are invited for the position of MTCC-Africa Project Head The MTCC-Africa Head will be reporting directly to the Project Director and the duties and responsibilities will be:
1. Project implementation, which includes; management, team leadership, monitoring and reporting;
2. Technical advisory support, capacity building and regional activities;
3. Stakeholder involvement, partner coordination and knowledge management support. The applicant should have the following minimum requirements:
1. At least a Master’s Degree from an internationally recognized University; 2. A minimum of five years experience in project management;
3. Demonstrated experience leading projects of similar scope and size;
4. Demonstrated ability to manage program coordination, including host country government and regional relations, focal points and other counterparts;
5. Ability to draft and convey information effectively and logically, and present complex issues orally;
6. Excellent command of English language and Good communication and interpersonal skills;
7. Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels;
8. Proven ability to manage and motivate staff;
9. Ability to oversee time record keeping;
10. Ability to plan independently and work effectively under pressure with a positive and solutions-oriented approach;
11. Good knowledge of IMO’s regulations on ships’ energy efficiency and related technical and operational measures and, in general, knowledge and familiarity with climate change mitigation, technology transfer and cooperation among countries
12. Proficiency in the French language will be an added advantage The engagement will be on a contractual basis renewable annually.
