Gov’t Increases ID Replacement and Birth Certificates Reregistration Costs

Govt Increases ID Replacement Costs to Ksh2,000, Birth certificate reregistration to Ksh1000.

The Kenyan Government reviews upward fees for Registration services in public offices related to the Ministry of Interior.

National ID replacement has been increased from Ksh. 100 to Ksh. 2000. Those who will apply for the first time will pay Ksh. 1000.

Birth and Death certificates increased from Ksh. 50 to Ksh. 200.

Late Registration of Birth and Death Certificates increased from Ksh. 150 to Ksh. 500

The government has raised the replacement charge for identity cards from Ksh100 to Ksh2,000.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki published a gazette notice announcing an increase in the fee for first-time ID applicants to Ksh1,000.

The government also raised the cost of getting birth certificates from Ksh50 to Ksh200.

Similarly, Kenyans who want to modify the details on their ID card would have to pay Ksh1,000, up from Ksh300, while those who want identification reports will have to pay Ksh1,000, up from Ksh300.

Meanwhile, the government has raised the rate for getting civil servants’ cards from Ksh100 to Ksh1000, while those requiring staff badges would have to pay Ksh1000 instead of Ksh350.

The government has also altered the fees for late birth certificate registration.

Late registration will cost Ksh150, while late registration of death certificates will cost Ksh500, up from Ksh150.
