About Murang’a University of Technology

History

Murang’a University of Technology (MUT) is the Successor of Murang’a University College, a former constituent College of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), and Murang’a College of Technology (MCT) based in Muranga County. The University is strategically located 1.5 km from Murang’a Town, 85 km North East of Nairobi, 70 km South East of Nyeri and 50 km South West of Embu.

The University currently operates under the provision of the Universities (Amendment) Act No. 48 of 2016 of the Laws of Kenya. MUT offers Degree, Diploma, Certificate and Craft courses in Engineering, Information Technology, Computing, Business, Commerce, Human Resource Management, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, Education, Pure and Applied Sciences. These academic programmes are organized and offered in the following schools:-
