HERE ARE FOUNDATIONS THAT OFFER FULL SPONSORSHIP TO KCSE AND KCPE CANDIDATES AFTER EXAMS
The United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 as a global clarion call to end poverty, protect the planet and make sure that by 2030 all people live in peace and some degree of happiness.
In total 17 SDGs are integrated recognizing that action in one will affect some in others thus ensuring that development balances social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
One of the 17 SDGs at number four is QUALITY EDUCATION. It is important to note that great strides have been made towards achieving universal basic education since 2000.
Statistics from the UN point out that the total enrollment rate in developing regions reached 91 percent in 2015 and that the number of children out of school has dropped by almost half worldwide.
This progress is good news because it tallies with UNESCO’S objective of having as many children as possible in school for Education is key in fighting poverty.
The United Nations observes that education is critical to escaping chronic poverty and preventing the transmission of poverty between generations.
This is what informed part of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 agenda in Kenya. The president has always shown commitment to providing basic education at a subsidized cost at the Secondary level while free at primary school.
Even with these efforts from the government, some bright children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds have been unable to join secondary and university to quench their thirst for education due to a lack of funds.
Such gaps are what the following foundations aim at filling up by providing academic sponsorship to these needy but bright children.
EQUITY GROUP FOUNDATION
As a way of giving back to society, Equity Group Foundation, the social arm of Equity Group Holding, extends financial and mentorship services to academically gifted but financially needy primary and secondary students in the country.
The beneficiaries of this program are children from very poor backgrounds, children whose parents suffer from chronic ailments like cancer or severe disabilities, and also victims of civil conflicts. All these are verified by the bank’s staff with the help of the local community leaders like the clergy, chiefs, and the chairpersons of the Nyumba Kumi initiative. More information is gathered through interviews and actual home visitations upon which the scholarships are granted. The foundation further partners with the Equity Leaders program to provide internship opportunities to bight high school students.
KENGEN FOUNDATION
Kengen is a state-owned company. As a way of giving back to society, the enterprise designed a program that offers annual academic sponsorship for academically gifted but needy primary and secondary students. Needy students are those from low-income, rural, or marginalized areas according to Kengen.
JOMO KENYATTA FOUNDATION
The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation prioritizes extending financial help to orphans and other vulnerable students across the country. (OVS) Orphans and Vulnerable Students Scholarships.

The beneficiaries must attain 70 percent of the maximum marks or meet all the criteria set by the board of directors, the special focus being on PWDs and persons from marginalized areas.
