Just in: TSC Advertises Teaching Opportunities; Over 1,000 Vacancies Up For Grabs!

Information reaching our desk is that the Teachers Service Commission is seeking to recruit 1,230.

These teachers are to be hired to serve in three counties in the larger North-Eastern region of Kenya.

The Teachers’ Employer aims at employing 8,44 new teachers on permanent and pensionable terms while about 80  on a contractual basis.

Based on the Circular issued by TSC, a total of 764 posts will be reserved for Primary Schools while the remaining 80 will be directed for Secondary Schools.

The Circular further directed that for candidates to qualify they must have the TSC Number, which shows that the said teacher is registered by TSC, and be a holder of the P1 Certificate for the primary recruitment. Meanwhile, their Secondary counterparts must have a minimum of a diploma in Education.

It is important to note that the circular emphasizes the applicants being residents of the three counties in the said Northern Region! This means that the applicants should come from the 3 Counties or are currently teaching under the BOM in the following Counties:

  • Garissa
  • Mandera
  • Wajir

Mode Of Application

The Circular directs that the interested teachers should submit their applications online through the TSC Website https://www.tsc.go.ke/ under the ‘Careers’or https://teachersonline.etc.go.ke/

It is worth their while for the interested teachers to observe that the commission will post the successful candidates in any part of the region and not particularly in the Counties they were interviewed in!

Furthermore, the Commission has re-advertised 114 posts for Primary Schools and 272 for secondary schools in the very same regions. The interested teachers and the relevant stakeholders should also note that the merit list generated during this recruitment exercise for primary and secondary schools will be used in subsequent recruitment processes within this financial year.

Deadline For Submission.

The deadline for submission of applications is July 7, and the list of shortlisted candidates will be uploaded on the Commission’s Website on July 15th.

This recruitment is being implemented in the background of an acute shortage of teachers in public schools, especially in the North Eastern Region. This is according to a report by the teacher’s employer that put the shortage at 99,213. The report, which was presented to the National Assembly, said the figure represented 44,134 and 55,079 teachers for primary and secondary schools respectively.
