Just In: TSC Announces 14,460 Teaching Vacancies- 7th July, 2022 Is The Deadline For Online Application:

News reaching our News Track Africa Media team is that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is seeking to employ a whopping 14,460 teachers, the highest number in recent times, as it struggles to fix the glaring shortage of tutors in Public Primary and Secondary schools.

Mode Of Application

The Circular directs that interested teachers submit their applications online through the TSC Website https://www.tsc.go.ke/ under the ‘Careers’or https://teachersonline.etc.go.ke/

Teachers In Figures To Be Recruited

The teachers’ employer has announced a total of 5,000 new vacancies that it purposes to fill in July 2022.

Additionally, the commission has also declared another 8,230 vacancies that are aimed at solely replacing all those teachers who have exited the service through natural attrition over the years!

It should be noted that the Commission will firmly be guided by the principle of affirmative action in the recruitment, especially in the North Eastern Region: Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir Counties which are needless to say sorely understaffed!. These areas do not attract potential teachers because of insecurity concerns!

In this recruitment, 3,972 Vacancies will go to Secondary Schools to plug in the shortage created by the 100% transition policy. Meanwhile, another 1,000 tutors will be directed to the primary institutions and another 28 to the Teacher Training Colleges (TTC’s)

TSC Budgetary Allocation Year 2022/2023

The Teachers Service Commission was allocated a whopping Sh298.4 billion in the current budget. From this amount, Sh2.5 billion was apportioned for the recruitment of new teachers while another Sh1.2 billion was for the hiring of interns on a contractual basis.

To fill vacancies that have been left open by exits, the commission will recruit 6,539 teachers for primary and 1,691 others for secondary schools. These too will be on permanent and pensionable terms.

Tsc has created another 844 permanent teaching opportunities for schools in the North Eastern Region. Through the principle of affirmative action, these opportunities have been designed for the teachers from the region. It should be noted that this is a re-advertisement after the commission failed to get enough teachers in a previous recruitment drive. Primary schools will get 764 teachers while 80 will be posted to secondary institutions.

“To qualify for recruitment, a candidate must be teaching under the board of management in Garissa, Mandera, or Wajir counties, if not hailing from the three counties,” observed Ms. Nancy Macharia, the TSC CEO.

This is aimed at encouraging tutors from the region to apply. Eligible applicants have previously shied away from seeking jobs there over insecurity concerns!

Deadlines For Application

The deadline for submission of applications is July 7, and the list of shortlisted candidates will be uploaded on the Commission’s Website on July 15th. Note that there will be no manual applications/submissions!

After the shortlisting is done(by the 15th of July,2022) by the commission, the eligible candidates will then be expected to present their original academic and professional certificates and testimonials during the physical interviews!
