ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS (Eligibility for programme)

A student for the Masters Degree in the Planning and Economics of Education must meet the following requirements:

a) Be a holder of at least an upper second class honours degree in Education form a recognized institution of higher learning or its equivalent.

b) Be a holder of at least a first degree (upper second class) from a recognized University, plus either a diploma in Education or its equivalent form a recognized education institution or its equivalent

c) Be a holder of lower 2nd class honours degree in Education with at least 3 years of teaching experience in the education field.

3.1 The Fulltime Masters Programme

This will be in accordance with the regular semester pattern.

3.2 The part-time Masters programme

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME

A student’s registration in the part-time Masters degree programme shall normally extended over a period of not less than three years and not more than five years. Instead of the normal three hours of lectures per week per semester for a three-unit course, there shall be six hours of lectures per week for nine weeks, including an examination week (8 weeks of lectures plus 1 week of examinations). The nine weeks will be the equivalent of a semester. A student will take all coursework in the first two years of registration, one semester-Equivalent being covered in each year. In the third and up to the end of the fifth year of registration, as student will work on and complete the research. Completion of research means successful defence of the thesis, and this will take place any time after twelve months following the commencement of the third year of registration.
