CALL FOR STUDENTS TRAINING ON AGRI-ENTREPRENEURSHIP THROUGH EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING (3rd COHORT)
Training for Young Agricultural Entrepreneurs:
Laikipia University in partnership with Agripreneurship Alliance (Switzerland) aim at promoting the establishment of youth led businesses within Agri-Food amongst our student fraternity. The University will be conducting the third cohort training having successfully conducted two
previous ones. Participants will be guided in developing innovative business ideas within the Agri-Food sector that can create wealth for themselves and their families, create employment within their communities, reduce poverty and support food and nutrition security through experiential learning and business ideas incubation.
Target Group
This training targets motivated and committed students who have an interest in agriculture or food related fields. This training is open to all students of Laikipia University Main Campus who are considering starting a venture in agribusiness and those who have already started an agribusiness and wish to learn how to take their business to the next level of growth.
Training
The training will focus on providing experiential skills that can be of use to development of agrientrepreneurship businesses. In addition, the students will receive training in business plan development and entrepreneurship which will expose them to opportunities in the agrientrepreneurship sector. The training will use blended-learning courses, tools, resources and also
adopt a cloud-based approach.
Delivery
The training is staggered into very short intensive activities over a period of 6-9 weeks. The training will be on appropriate times during week-days and weekends. The training will use African Management Institute (AMI) platform for experiential learning that is easy to use and available online to access.
On completing this training, the students will be expected to apply experiential learning skills in the fields of agriculture and agri-foods development to develop business plans that are viable, implementable and fundable.
Eligibility and Registration
- LU students from any degree program who are engaged / aspire to be engaged in
agribusiness activities. - Applicant should write a one-page motivation essay indicating why they are
interested in the training and attach proof of affiliation with any club / association
Training requirement
- One must be committed to participate in all scheduled sessions and complete the online
tasks in time. - All members of a group must be involved in group activities
