KYEOP 2020 Online Application Procedure and Courses

KYEOP stands for Kenya Youth Empowerment and Opportunities Project. It is a national project designed to equip young people aged between 18 and 29 with training on life and business skills. The KYEOP project also provides internship opportunities as well as work experience, as a way of enhancing their ability to secure sustainable livelihoods. Nevertheless, it is possible that many youths targeted by this project are not aware of how to go about the application process. Therefore, this article sheds more light on KYEOP online application procedure as well as the courses offered

The KYEOP project is one of the youth training programs in Kenya and is a solution towards the youth unemployment problem in Kenya. By equipping youths with the necessary life skills, it opens doors for them into the labour market. Thus, KYEOP is a project that mainly aims at empowering the youth, which is an advantage to them and the nation. KYEOP’s opportunities for the youth KYEOP offers various opportunities to the youth. They include:

1. Training and work experience: KYEOP provides the youth with training and work experience through the following ways: Equipping them with life skills Equipping them with core business skills Endowing them with sector-specific skills Equipping them with entrepreneurship skills Providing on-job-training or apprenticeship Offering them internship opportunities

2. Provision of grants: This is attained by providing them with start-up capital for businesses as well grants to expand their businesses.

3. Certification: This done by boosting their skill base and certifying them as master craftsmen.

4. Access to labour market information system READ ALSO: Most Marketable Courses in Kenya KYEOP requirements To be part of the KYEOP project, one needs to satisfy some minimum requirements. There are requirements that one needs to meet for each of the above-named opportunities that KYEOP offers to the youth. Here is a breakdown of the requirements for each opportunity.

1. Training and work experience Be aged between 18 and 29 Not currently employed Not currently enrolled in any school or planning to join a school in the next 8 months Have achieved education up to form four level or below

2. Grants For start-up grants one is required to meet the following requirements: Be between 18 and 29 years of age Not currently employed Not currently enrolled in any school or planning to join a school in the next 8 months Have achieved education up to form four level or below For expansion grants one is required to meet the following: Be aged between 18 and 35 Have an existing business, which is registered Must be a youth-owned business 3. Certification

Certification of youth with skills but no certificate requires one to be: Be between the ages of 18 and 29 Have attained education up to form four level or below Must be unemployed currently Must not be enrolled in any school or planning to enrol into school in the next 8 months Certification for master craftsmen (master craftsmen are people with special skills that have been practiced over time) There is no age limit One must be proficient in a certain skill or craft, which is considered useful to the society and one that has economic relevance viability One must be willing to undertake training in order to upgrade their skills

KYEOP online application forms The first step to being part of the KYEOP project is filling an application form. If you plan to apply for this project online, you need to visit the KYEOP website and click on the application form tab. This tab will prompt you to fill out the form. Those who may not have the opportunity to get the application forms online can visit their local chief’s office and collect the forms. About 20 application forms per location together with a copy of the application advertisements are availed to chiefs for this purpose.

The following is the KYEOP online application procedure: Look out for advertisements about the KYEOP project – those interested in participating in this project should look out for call applications at KYEOP that are placed on national newspapers, on selected radio stations, or on the KYEOP website. Fill out the application form. Upload it on KYEOP website after filling it. Ensure you upload it before the stated deadline. The deadlines for application are usually included in the advertisements.

KYEOP shortlisted candidates are picked using a computerised randomization process from the pool of applications received throughout the process of application. The selected candidates are notified of the results. KYEOP courses offered There are various courses offered by the KYEOP project.
