Govt Offers Free Courses for Diploma Holders: Eligibility and Requirements

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection in Kenya has recently announced new opportunities for Kenyans with a diploma certificate or above.

These opportunities are part of the National Online Employment Skills Development Programme, which is aimed at equipping young people with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to improve their chances of employment.

This programme will be offered virtually and will be free of charge to all eligible Kenyan citizens.

Eligibility and Requirements

To be eligible for this programme, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in computer skills and be between the ages of 18 and 35. During the application process, proof of citizenship must be produced.

Interested individuals must submit their Curriculum Vitae, a copy of their National Identity Card or Passport, a copy of their highest academic certificate, and an application letter specifying their area of interest.

These documents should be submitted to the Principal Secretary, State Department for Labour and Skills Development via email at skills@posttraining.go.ke. The deadline for submissions is Monday, May 29, 2023.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has also announced that women and persons with disabilities who meet the specified requirements are encouraged to apply and indicate their status in their applications.

This initiative is a collaboration between the State Department for Labour and Skills Development and Ajira, a government programme designed to enhance youth employment.

The aim of this collaboration is to empower young people with the necessary skills to increase their employability in various fields.

Overall, this initiative will help to bridge the gap between the skills that employers require and the skills that young people possess.

This will not only benefit the young people involved in the programme but also contribute to the overall economic development of Kenya by creating a more skilled workforce.
