2022/2023 Diploma In Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) And Diploma In Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) Requirements, Application Procedure, And Deadline For April 2023 Intake.

The Ministry of Education(MOE) in conjunction with Teacher Training Colleges are encouraging teachers to apply for admission to advance their Certificates in Early Childhood  Teacher Education (CECTE) and Primary Teacher Education (PTE) to the Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) and the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education(DPTE) respectively.

This is an upgrading program tailor-made for qualified teachers who have not yet secured employment by the national teacher employer (TSC), the Private sector, and even the County government which has the mandate over Early Childhood Education.

It should be noted that this upgrading program will be run on the school-based program starting in April 2023.

Deadline Of Application

Having accessed the Website, the interested candidates are expected to duly fill in the forms and then personally submit them at the Sub County Director of Education offices between Thursday, July 28, 2022, and Thursday, August 18, 2022.

Official communication from the ministry encourages teachers with special needs to apply.

Further information spells out that interested candidates should only register at one center. Double application may lead to automatic disqualification!

The Following Are The Requirements For Entry Into the Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) Programme 2022/2023

  • The applicant must hold a current, non-provisional ECDE certificate. The ECDE certificate must have been acquired from an accredited educational facility.
  • The course will last 1890 hours total.
  • The course will last five terms and be entirely residential. 1 practical semester and 4 terms for tuition.
  • The trainee must complete all of the courses listed in the early childhood teacher education upgrading program (DECTE).
  • The trainees must complete a 300-hour teaching practicum.
  •  The trainee must complete the necessary coursework hours and pass the required Kenya National Examination Council assessment to receive the diploma.

The Following Are The Requirements For Entry Into (DPTE) Diploma Programme In Primary Teacher Education 2022/2023

  • The candidate must hold a current PTE Certificate.
  •  The course will take 1500 hours to complete.
  • The course will last four terms and be entirely residential. 1 practical semester and 3 terms for tuition.
  • The candidate must complete all of the courses listed in the upgrade program for the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education.
  • The trainees must complete a 300-hour teaching practicum.
  •  To receive the Diploma, the trainee must complete the stipulated evaluation by the Kenya National Examination Council as well as the necessary hours for course work.
