TSC Promotions 2022-2023; Will TSC use TPD to promote Teachers?

Having declared a total of 1,025 promotional vacancies for teachers seeking headship positions both in primary and secondary schools in Kenya, all eyes are now trained on the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to see whether it will review TSC Promotions Guidelines 2022-2023 to incorporate the newly introduced Teacher Professional Development, TPD modules which most teachers have shunned. The buck now stops with the teachers’ employer, TSC, to determine the best selection criteria to use to promote teachers this year. However, TSC may not demand evidence of TPD compliance during TSC promotions interviews 2022-2023 since the Commission is yet to pay for the TPD modules as suggested by members of parliament.

TSC Declares 1,025 Promotions for Teachers 

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised 1,025 promotional vacancies for qualified teachers who will be elevated to head various primary and secondary schools after undergoing the mandatory TSC selection process starting in July. Since the available TSC promotional slots are a drop in the ocean given the high number of eligible teachers currently serving in Grades C3, C4, D3, and D4 willing to rise the ladder and fill the limited TSC promotions vacancies advertised, the selection process will be laden with cut-throat competition.

Kindly note that the available TSC promotions vacancies will not be automatically filled. The Teachers Service Commission will only select eligible teachers-those who have applied for TSC promotions in 2022 and have met the following conditions;

Must be a Kenyan Citizen.

Must be serving under the Career Progression Guidelines, CPGs.

Must have served for at least three years in their current appointment/ grades.

Must possess a clearance certificate from CRB.

Must have paid their HELB loan in full.
