The Education Ministry is therefore eargerly waiting for the closure of the KCSE 202 1examinations this week so that secondary school principals who are currently serving as centre managers in the ongoing KCSE 2021 exams can switch to the 2022 form one selection exercise.

Form One Selection and Placement Process 2022

In case you are wondering how the ministry will select from ones to the four categories/ cadres of schools, there are some factors that have to be considered including regional balance, KCPE merit, candidate’s list of preferred schools and affirmative action.

The cut off for selection to national schools is 400 KCPE marks  and above.

Besides, the ministry uses a 20: 40: 40 ratio to apportion slots for top performing extra county secondary schools.

This means that 20% of available vacancies in an extra county school goes students from the Subcounty where the school is found.

While the host county and other counties get 40% each. After the selection exercise for the 2021 placement of form ones, they will be expected to download their letters through the Ministry of education’s online portal.

Delayed 2021 Form One Placement Results; Find Out Why

In 2021, the form one placement results were delayed after CS Magoha intimated about extreme interference emanating from well-connected individuals seeking favours from principals of KCSE top performing secondary schools.

CS Magoha was thus forced to postpone the 2021 form one selection exercise to put off cartels who were out to sway the 2021 form one selection process to their advantage.

According to Magoha, the delay was necessary to avert a scenatio where bright but intelligent KCPE candidatesare denied admission to the schools they qualified for.

2022 Form One Selection to National Schools; Placement Results

A typical example of unfair distribution of slots to KCPE candidates is the shady way in which some corrupt individuals get slots meant for bright but needy candidates in national schools.

The form one placement/selection to national schools in 2022 will see the ministry raise the cut off to 400 since more KCPE candidates attained over 400 marks this year.

The challenge now lies on how the ministry will change its criteria to determine which candidates will jon the traditional national schools that are highly sought after given that they are well endowed when it comes to teachers and learning resources and which ones will join the newly elevated national schools this year.
