Bank of Baroda was set up during the monsoons of 1908, when the visionary Maharaja Sir Sayajirao Gaekwad – III, the then ruler of the state of Baroda in India, wanted to build a modern Banking System. On 18th July the Maharaja deposited a silver plate filled with 101 gold coins, as Bank’s first deposit. With this was sown a seed that has now grown into a full fledged nourishing tree.
