Ardhi University Admission for 2020-2021 Academic Year

Applications for admission to various undergraduate degree programmes at Ardhi University (ARU) for the academic year 2020/2021 are invited from qualified candidates who finished form six and diploma levels; NTA Level 6, FTC Recognition of Prior Learning Qualifications or any other relevant Diplomas. Applications are open from 24th June, 2020 for applicants from previous years while for those who finished form six and diploma levels in 2020, applications will be opened from 15th July 2020.

All applicants are invited to send their applications directly to the University through an online system using the link http://admission.aru.ac.tz/ or ARU Admission accessible in the University website. Once in the admission page, all requisite information and guidelines to take the applicant through the application stages are provided. Applicants are reminded to register their names as they appear in their Form Four certificates; likewise their index numbers, email address and telephone numbers where prompted. Applicants are reminded to use valid telephone numbers and email addresses. They should as well use passwords that they can remember easily.

Undergraduate applicants with foreign certificates are required to apply for Certificates Of Equivalency Translation from the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) at: https://www.necta.go.tz/. Applicants will be required to upload this certificate during the application process. Likewise, applicants with Diploma qualification are required to apply for the Award Verification Number (AVN) and a certificate for the same from NACTE at https://www.nacte.go.tz/. Applicants will also be required to upload this certificate while making the application.

Admission Requirement

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION AT ARDHI UNIVERSITY

A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a first degree programme of Ardhi University if the candidate has obtained: A. Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C. S. E. E.) or equivalent, with passes in FOUR approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A. C. S. E. E.) or equivalent AND B. Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A. C. S. E. E.), with two principal level passes in appropriate subjects, with total points not below 4.0 based on the following grade to point conversion scale:

Before 2014 and 2016 onwards: A = 5; B = 4; C = 3; D = 2; E = 1; S = 0.5; and F = 0 where; A, B, C, D, E are principal passes; S is a Subsidiary pass ii) For 2014 and 2015: A = 5; B + = 4; B = 3; C = 2; D = 1; E = 0.5; and F = 0 where; A, B+ , B, C are principal passes; D is a Pass, and E is Subsidiary Pass OR C.

An appropriate equivalent Diploma such as NACTE Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) with at least a GPA of 3.0, OR FTC with average of C OR any other Diploma of not less than Upper Second Class/B+ OR a Distinction for unclassified Diplomas from recognised institutions and approved by the University Senate. D.

An appropriate Recognition of Prior Learning Certificate of not less than B+ grade from institutions recognised by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and approved by the University’s Senate.

NB: Principal level passes and passes in Religious and General studies are not counted. Applicants from countries which follow an 8–4–4 education system need to complete at least one year of study at a University in their own countries before they can be considered for admission.

Courses Offered

All degree programmes at ARU run for four years except Bachelor of Architecture which run for five years; and Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Management, Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance, and Bachelor of Arts in Community and Development Studies (BA CDS) which run for three years each.
