REGULAR SOURCES ACCESSIBLE TO MUT STUDENTS

  1. Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)

The Board awards loans and bursaries to students pursuing Postgraduate, Undergraduate, and Diploma courses in Universities in Kenya. At the moment, the Board gives loans to needy Kenyan students who are admitted to public universities through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) and to those attending private chartered universities.

There are two Categories of students who qualify: –

  • First Time Applicants – All students who have never applied for HELB LOAN at any time irrespective of the year of study
  • Subsequent Applicants – All students who have at any given time applied for HELB Loan irrespective of whether they benefitted or not

The loan and bursary is applied after the HELB office puts an advert specifying the category to apply.

For more information, please visit the HELB website.

  1. National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG CDF) Bursary

The National Government CDF bursary is allocated from the national level to support needy students who end up in the higher education institutions. Students can access financial aid from their respective Constituency Development Fund (CDF) offices.

  1. County Government Bursary

County governments have set aside a certain amount of money in their budgets to help the needy and yet bright students to access education through the bursary programmes. In this programme, the needy and bright students apply for these bursaries and they are disbursed to their school accounts by the county government. This therefore enables the needy students to access education despite their poor conditions.

For more information, please visit the County Education Office, Sub County Office, Ward Administration office, or MCA Office.

  1. Work Study Program

The Work Study Program provides part-time employment opportunities for full-time students at Murang’a University of Technology who demonstrate financial need.
